The Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention recertification training is intended for participants who have completed the full-day Enhanced CPI certification course within one calendar year. If you have not completed the full-day Enhanced certification course offered within the last calendar year, or if your certification has lapsed, you will be required to attend the full-day Enhanced training prior to attending a recertification. Please refer to the full-day Enhanced offering within this catalog for more information including dates and locations. CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention recertification program is designed to review the techniques required to respond early and effectively in order to prevent or defuse a behavioral escalation. Participants will also review and practice the essential skills needed to safely manage dangerous behavior within the school setting. It is recommended that schools have a small team (3-5 staff members) trained per site.
NOTE: Participants must be able to physically perform the CPI Personal Safety Techniques and attend the entire training to be properly certified. Proper attire and closed toed non-slip shoes (i.e. tennis shoes) should be worn to ensure the safety of self and others.
